Landscaping costs vary widely depending on scope. Basic lawn care and maintenance typically runs $50–$150 per visit. Question 4

Accepted Answer

Yes. CJ Horizons Landscape and Irrigation LLC holds Idaho Contractor's License #4281930 and carries full liability insurance. You can hire us with confidence knowing your property and investment are protected.

Question 5

When is the best time to install a sprinkler system in Idaho?

Accepted Answer

Spring (April–May) and early fall (September) are the ideal windows for irrigation installation in the Treasure Valley. The ground is workable, temperatures are mild, and you'll have the system ready before peak summer heat. We can also install systems in summer if your schedule requires it.

Question 6

How do I know if my sprinkler system needs repair?

Accepted Answer

Common signs include dry or brown patches in otherwise green lawn, unusually high water bills, visible leaks or pooling water, sprinkler heads that won't pop up or rotate, and uneven coverage. If you notice any of these, give us a call — we diagnose and repair all makes and models of irrigation systems.

Question 7

How do I winterize my sprinkler system in Idaho?

Accepted Answer

Irrigation systems in Idaho must be blown out with compressed air before the first hard freeze (typically late October). Skipping this step can cause pipes and heads to crack when water expands as it freezes, leading to costly repairs in spring. We offer professional blow-out service every fall — call us in September to get on the schedule before spots fill up.

Question 8

What is the best grass type for Boise, Idaho lawns?

Accepted Answer

Boise's high-desert climate does best with cool-season grasses. Kentucky Bluegrass is the most popular choice — it produces a lush, dense lawn and handles Idaho winters well. Tall Fescue is a great drought-tolerant alternative that requires less water. We can help you choose the right variety based on your sun exposure, soil type, and watering habits.

Question 9

How often should I water my lawn in Boise?

Accepted Answer

During peak summer heat (July–August), most Boise lawns need about 1–1.5 inches of water per week, typically split across 3–4 watering days. Early morning watering (before 9 AM) reduces evaporation and fungal risk. A properly programmed smart irrigation controller can automate this based on local weather data.

Question 10

What is xeriscaping and is it right for my Boise yard?

Accepted Answer

Xeriscaping is a landscaping approach that minimizes water use through drought-tolerant plants, efficient irrigation, and strategic mulching. It's a great fit for Boise's semi-arid climate — you get a beautiful, low-maintenance yard while cutting your water bill significantly. We can design a xeriscape plan that still looks lush and inviting without the heavy water demand of a traditional lawn.

Question 11

Do you do spring and fall cleanup?

Accepted Answer

Yes — seasonal cleanup is one of our most popular services. Spring cleanup includes debris removal, bed edging, pruning, and preparing your yard for the growing season. Fall cleanup covers leaf removal, cutting back perennials, winterizing irrigation systems, and mulching beds to protect roots through the cold months.

Question 12

Can you design and install a new landscape from scratch?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. We handle full landscape installations from the ground up — site grading, soil prep, sod or seed installation, planting beds, trees and shrubs, decorative rock, edging, and irrigation. Whether you're starting with bare dirt on a new build or completely renovating an existing yard, we'll create a plan that fits your vision and budget.
